Change in the Leadership of the UMC in the Czech Republic

As Bishop Patrick Streiff has announced, the year 2021 will bring an important change for The United Methodist Church in the Czech Republic.

Petr Procházka has been serving as District Superintendent of the UMC in the Czech Republic for ten years - and he has carried out the responsibility entrusted to him with «strategic clarity in important times of transition», as Bishop Patrick Streiff notes in an official letter. Petr Procházkas will continue his ministry until the end of 2020, when he will be able to take a six-month renewal and study leave before receiving a new pastoral appointment.

After numerous conversations about hopes and expectations regarding the nomination of a new superintendent, Bishop Patrick Streiff has decided to appoint Pastor Ivana Procházková to this new ministry. After a period of reflection and prayer, she has agreed to take on this responsibility, as Bishop Streiff writes with gratitude.

Ivana Procházková will fill this leadership office with her own personality and her specific gifts, which are in several respects different from those of her husband and predecessor, said Bishop Streiff. She currently works as a scholar at the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague and as Vice-Director of the Institute of Education of the UMC in the Czech Republic. She will assume her new role as District Superintendent in January 2021.
