Changes in the Office of the Bishop

Thomas Rodemeyer, person responsible for Finances and Administration in the Bishop's Office in Zurich, will soon hand over his responsibility to André Töngi.

On September 15, 2010, Thomas Rodemeyer started his service as person responsible for Finances and Administration in the Office of the Bishop. About six years later, by the end of October 2016, he will move on to new horizons. In the meantime, he proved to be an employee with an extraordinary commitment and a high professional competence, and he played a vital part in many different areas – from accounting and administration to the establishment of a Pension Fund in the Central Conference of Central and Southern Europe to the coordination of ministries with Roma. After a successfully completed advanced training, he is now looking for a new challenge.

André Töngi (54) from Basel will start his service as Thomas’ successor on September 1, 2016, which means that there will be a transitional period of two months. André Töngi, married and father of two adult children, has experienced many changes in his life – he did not grow up in the UMC but then got to know and appreciate the diversity and impressing social commitment of the church, and, professionally, he changed to a second education in commerce and administration in mid-life. His current service in the UMC includes both the ministry of a lay preacher and the work in the Commission on Church and Society of the UMC in Switzerland.
